The majority of treatment programs, particularly traditional 12-Step hold the view that addiction is an incurable disease that sufferers must battle to keep in remission. At Elevate, we place patients at the center of our focus, providing them with a personalized strategy that seeks to address their individual needs rather than simply treating their illness.

Our considerable experience of helping thousands of people achieve successful recovery has taught us that it is possible to overcome addiction and achieve long-term sobriety. This is achieved by using holistic therapies and natural healing that address the person as a whole for improved overall wellbeing. In Elevate’s non-12 step recovery program, we focus on two approaches to promote a long-lasting recovery:

  • Mitigate physical and emotional aspects of an individual’s addiction
  • Strengthen motivation, boost self-respect and rebuild confidence for strength in recovery

Holistic Detox at Elevate

When an individual has been in the grips of a substance use disorder, the physical, emotional and psychological effects can be extensive. Ridding the body of drugs and other intoxicants through completely natural processes is an important step in starting to diminish the individual’s dependence on chemical substances and better prepares them for a drug-free recovery.

Holistic practices such as massage therapy are beneficial in easing the symptoms of withdrawal through hands-on touch; meditation and deep-breathing enable patients to achieve a relaxed state without substances and improved nutrition helps restore the body’s natural defenses. Elevate also places emphasis on offering mental and emotional support throughout detox to provide extra motivation for clients on a non 12 step rehab journey.

The Non-12 Step Holistic Approach of SMART Recovery

Although 12-Step is the most well-known rehab and recovery support programs, not everyone benefits from its methodology. SMART Recovery stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training and provides non 12 Step drug rehab that embraces holistic therapies.

The SMART method provides patients with a structured program that includes individual and group therapy sessions, without any religious component. This method treats the person rather than the symptoms of their illness and seeks to identify the root issues underlying addictive behaviors.

SMART Recovery allows people without any religious affiliation to find sobriety via a non 12 step recovery program that takes them on a journey of self-exploration, empowering them to regain control of their lives.

The main focus of SMART Recovery is on the following areas:

  • Teaching self-reliance and independent thought
  • Encouraging recovery for a more satisfying life
  • Teaching skills and tools that allow for self-directed change
  • Group meetings which focus on education and open discussion
  • Appropriate use of prescription medications and psychological therapies

Elevate operates an open policy on spirituality so that people with all belief systems feel comfortable receiving treatment. SMART Recovery is combined with a range of holistic and therapeutic treatments to identify and address the source of addiction. Essentially, this non 12 step program is about handing back power to the individual who is in the process of regaining control from the compulsive nature of addiction.

Integrated Holistic Addiction Treatment

Research shows that addiction treatment is most successful when an integrated approach is used. This means that holistic and complementary components are used in combination with evidence-based therapies such as CBT to provide an approach that encompasses treatment of the mind, body, and spirit.

Elevate offers the following holistic and clinical components as part of the SMART non 12 step program:

  • Mindfulness practices such as meditation and deep-breathing exercises
  • Nutritional education and physical fitness
  • Body rejuvenation therapy
  • Art and music therapy
  • Aromatherapy
  • Experiential treatments such as adventure therapy
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Personal development education

90-Day Inpatient Non 12 Step Recovery Program

There is no “one size fits all” approach to treating addiction. However, there is a clear link between a longer rehab program and higher success rates in recovery. For this reason, Elevate’s rehab program generally lasts 90-days, giving patients plenty of time to make significant changes in their lives at their own pace.

The most important aspect of treating an individual’s addiction is time. Addiction is an illness that doesn’t develop overnight and its widespread effects on a person’s brain function, emotional strength and physical capability can be considerable. On that basis, it is natural to expect that it will take some time to overcome an illness as chronic as addiction, which is why we generally recommend a 90-day residential program for primary care.

That said, some patients may be dealing with moderate addiction issues and may not need the extensive treatment others require. For these people, Elevate offers a 30-day non 12 step recovery program which contains the same components as our longer rehab program but is intensified into a shorter period of time. To determine the program duration most appropriate for each client, considerable evaluations and assessments are carried out before admission.

Tackling the Root Cause of Addiction with Non 12 Step Drug Rehab

At Elevate, we don’t believe that addiction defines a person, rather that they are combating a chronic illness. The holistic approach to rehab and recovery seeks to treat the person rather than their symptoms in the way conventional medicine does.

The most important aspect of treatment is to identify the root causes in each individual. By developing a better understanding of the factors at play, individuals can make significant changes in their attitudes, thoughts, and feelings about themselves and the world around them.

Non 12 step drug rehab at Elevate allows clients to heal in their own time and at their own pace. It is crucial that individuals are completely engaged in rehab and holistic therapies provide them with vital tools for self-exploration to make that possible.
